[19.10.2009] RENZ® launches new website

How do you see it? Mostly, if you want to inform yourself about a product, your first way is to look in the Internet for possible suppliers. The advantages to obtain information in such a way are obvious: it is quick, without any obligation and quite comfortable. RENZ® meet exactly these requirements of their potential and existing customers with their new website: the homepage is designed to give the user quick, current and extensive information. With a very orderly navigation - clearly marked with colour codes for the different product groups - the user is systematically directed to find detailed information on RENZ's large product range. If the visitor of the website is overwhelmed with technical "gobbledygook" of punching, binding and laminating, he/she will find simple explanations in the glossary of the "Help" button. This glossary will be extended in the future and backed by pictures. Moreover, you will now be able to see the faces of your direct partners. If you click the button "Personal contact / Departments" under "Companies", you will find all employees with outward contact listed with their personal data. This enables you to directly contact the person responsible for your specific request. In addition to providing information, RENZ mainly want to improve direct communication and dialogue with this new website. At present, the website is online in English, German and French but will soon be readable also in Spanish and Italian. Moreover, RENZ want to integrate a professional newsletter system so to encourage dialogues between internal and external partner. The future "Marketing-Pool" is mainly intended for daughter companies, world-wide representations and specialized dealers supporting them in their daily advertisment activities. Any feedback and suggestions for improvements are most welcome!

[26.05.2010] IPEX 2010 exceeds Renz expectations!

IPEX 2010 exceeds Renz expectations hitting £1m in punching and binding system sales

Leading punching and loose leaf binding manufacturer Renz, has said its post IPEX 2010 sales are set to approach £1 million after its highly successful launch of two new binding systems at this years exhibition.

The new Renz machines creating this buzz at IPEX were:
The revolutionary Autopunch 360-120 Block to Block - A floor-standing high speed punching machine allowing for fully automated punching of book blocks and less manual product handling.

The DBW 360/ KL 500 – An automatic cover turner linked to the already popular high-speed binding lines, the AB 500 HS and ABL 500. Its unique automatic feature of flipping the back cover over after the binding process is complete and spinning every second book 180 degrees for easy stacking and packaging means minimal manual product handling; something which many of our customers are excited about. These new introductions to the already successful Renz portfolio are aimed at addressing new pressures on printers, such as the print-on-demand market and calls for increased automation or inline systems and further demonstrate Renz’s ability to continually adapt to market demands.

A major highlight for Renz was selling one high speed Autopunch (AP 360) per day at the show. Dermot Callaghan – Renz UK Bindery Products Sales Manager said “This machine, a leader in its field, reduces punching bottle necks. With just one operator needed it is capable of comfortably punching in excess of 60,000 sheets per hour”.

Daniel Pooley – Renz UK Sales & Marketing Manager said of IPEX 2010 “This has been like no other recent show we have been part of; with customers having new found confidence to invest. In past years customers have been more reluctant to spend, preferring to wait for new products rather than investing heavily in technology already on the market. We feel that with the launch of our new range, together with renewed confidence in the market our customers are more than willing to begin investing again”.

Iain Bullock, Renz UK Managing Director, said “IPEX 2010 has exceeded all of our expectations. It has lived up to its reputation of being a selling show, with Renz taking £100k worth of new orders in the first three days alone. There was a hugely positive air throughout and less negativity and cautiousness than we have experienced from customers in recent years”.

Renz were also ecstatic about the number of demonstrations and sales of their hugely successful bench top semi automatic punching machine (DTP 340 A) and semi automatic binding machines (ECL 360 / WP 300). These machines were designed to specifically bridge the gap between full automation and traditional foot pedal punching and binding systems and it is testament to Renz’s innovation that even with the introduction of newer, more automated machines, these machines still remain hugely popular with customers.

Daniel Pooley added “An investment of only £10.5k gives customers the ability to test the market or take on larger run lengths, before making a bigger investment into fully automated systems.”

IPEX 2010 demonstrates that the motto “Innovate through Technology” is engrained in the fibres of Renz. From adaptable, high speed machines to zero waste and biodegradable consumables, Renz keep pushing the boundaries, to ensure they remain leaders in their field. RENZ exhibited in hall 20 stand C-669. Iain Bullock Renz Managing Director comments ‘IPEX this time round is one of the most important UK shows in the last twenty years, both in terms of the “digital and associated technologies race” but also (and even more importantly) in terms of deciding future business strategy.’ Show highlights, what Renz will be producing:
Using the latest Renz punching and binding machines we will be producing wire bound books, tent cards and calendars in both short and long run work demonstrating the key features of our product range for the digital printer, printer, print finisher, professional bindery, inplant, copy shop and bind on demand market. Why in-house punching & binding makes sense?

  • Gives printer full control of end to end process allowing them to better service customer requirements.
  • Allows full control over price and delivery of each job with no outsourcing costs.
  • Guarantees the quality of work.
Wire binding is increasingly becoming one of the most popular options for finishing documents such as books and presentations which in the past were traditionally perfect bound (using glue) or stitched; but are now being wire bound so they can be opened 360 degrees without impacting on the documents’ strength. Loose leaf finishing is versatile, from calendar work through to book binding which allows the printer to fill their press all year round. About Renz Company Background / History:
From humble beginnings starting life as a blacksmith shop in Stuttgart, Germany back in 1908, the Renz group has now grown considerably; expanding internationally with subsidiaries in 12 countries worldwide. Renz are now one of the world’s largest providers of punching & binding systems and continually striving to produce innovative solutions. [06.04.2010] Marketing Director retires

Having accumulated 26 years of experience, Bruno Staib - Marketing Director for Chr. Renz GmbH in Heubach, Southern Germany - will retire as of 1st April 2010. In Mr. Staib, RENZ will lose one of the original cornerstones of the company. The work that he has done during his 26 years has significantly helped to shape the company. In 1982 he first worked for several months in the field for the former chief agency of RENZ in Colombia. As from 1983 he supported the field service of RENZ Germany. In 1986 he took on the position of Domestic Sales Manager. However, increasingly his time was occupied coordinating marketing activities like merchandising, advertising and exhibition preparation. As a result of this Mr. Staib, who is now 63 years old, was given the position of Marketing Director in November 1989. In this position he has become known to many people in the paper, office and graphic industry as a "wily fair fox" and has been ever present at all RENZ exhibitions for many, many years. Over the last few years he has led a particularly successful rework of the RENZ Corporate Design as well as overseeing the recent website relaunch. Mr. Staib will be sorely missed by all of his colleagues at RENZ and by the many industry friends that he has made over the years. His duties and responsibilities will be redistributed internally.

[08.07.2010] Successful trade show appearance at ExpoPrint in São Paulo

From 23rd to 29th June 2010 Renz do Brasil, a subsidiary of Chr. Renz GmbH, participated at the fair ExpoPrint in São Paulo, Brazil.
This exhibition is the greatest trade fair of the printing industry in South America.
RENZ could not only welcome lots of Brazilian visitors but also qualified decision-makers from all over South and Central America.

An important point were punching and binding machines for paper processing in the digital printing sector: The Mobi 500, a semi automatic wire comb binding machine, and the Autopunch 360, an automatic high-performance punching machine were of particular interest.
Furthermore the Autobind 500 HS had its world premiere in South America. This semi automatic binding machine shows an increase in performance of up to 30 percent compared to the conventional Autbind 500, due to its automatic product ejection.

Paper converting with plastic spirals was a further focus at the RENZ booth. For the first time a former with feeding unit was presented. This system is a semi automatic high-performance plastic spiral winding machine.
The market for this binding technique becomes more and more important in South America. With the former paper processors have the opportunity for the first time to improve from manual to semi automatic production.

Also for the first time at a Brazilian fair visitors of the RENZ booth could have a look at the new HT pouch laminators of the product category “office line”. These products were also very well received which was reflected in numerous fair orders.
Mario Hinrichsen, managing director of Renz do Brasil, summarizes positively: “ExpoPrint 2010 showed the general euphoric atmosphere that is currently noticeable in the Brazilian and South American market. Since the foundation eight years before Renz do Brasil has been ingrained deeply in the market and has become a reliable partner for the graphic printing industry.”

The revolutionary Inline 360 is a high speed punching and binding system, where book blocks are dropped on to the infeed (conveyor), punched, re collated and fed automatically into the binder. Allows for less product handling and full automation of punching and binding, a world first. The Inline is also capable of punching and binding calendar sets with either nail hole or calendar thumb cut. Once the DBW automatic cover turner is linked to the line it allows the device to automatically flip the back cover after the binding process and also spins every second book 180 degrees for level stacking. These new introductions to the already successful Renz portfolio are aimed at addressing new pressures on printers, such as the print-on-demand market and calls for increased automation or inline systems and further demonstrate Renz’s ability to continually adapt to market demands.

Major highlights for Renz were the sales of several fully automatic high speed punching and binding lines the Renz Inline 500.
